Job Description
The Grand Valley Campus Health Center is seeking a skilled, student‑focused Massage Therapist to provide therapeutic, restorative, and preventive massage services to the GVSU community. This role supports the university’s mission of promoting holistic well‑being, stress reduction, injury prevention, and overall physical health within the campus community. This position is hourly and temporary.Compensation:
$34.00per hour
Essential Functions:
Provide a range of therapeutic massage modalities.
Conduct client intake, assessments, and individualized treatment plans.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
Identify contraindications and make referrals as needed.
Educate clients on self‑care, stretching, posture, and stress management.
Participate in wellness events and campus outreach.
Maintain a sanitary and safe treatment environment.
Manage appointment scheduling and documentation.
Always uphold ethical and professional standards.
Required Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:
State of Michigan Massage Therapist License.
Completion of a 500+ hour massage therapy program.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Strong communication and professionalism.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Preferred Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:
Experience in clinical, wellness, college health, or athletic settings.
Additional certifications (sports massage, myofascial release, etc.).
Experience with electronic health record systems.
Ability to assist with wellness programming or events.
Working Conditions:
• Flexible hours with occasional evenings or weekend events.
• Work in designated Health Center treatment rooms.
• Some standing, bending, and lifting massage equipment up to 25 lbs.
