The Georgia Cancer Center M. Bert Storey Research Building provides quality research space to promote multidisciplinary collaborations and translational research, which is essential to creating an environment that promotes innovation. Our research approach supports important National Cancer Institute goals including ensuring every cancer patient has access to the newest and most innovative clinical trials in the nation, clinicians and researchers work together to initiate new research protocols based on the clinician's interaction with the patient, and each cancer patient receives personalized treatment through the interaction of the multidisciplinary team of clinicians and allied health professionals.
Job Summary
The candidate will conduct complex bioinformatics analyses of high-dimensional immunology datasets, Including CyT0F, bulk RNA-seq, CITE-Seq, and scRNA-seq.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS
Conduct a complex computational analysis NGS datasets, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, scATAC-seq, scRNA-seq, CITE-seq, and Spatial transcriptomics
Conduct statistical data analyses
Assist in managing and transferring research data
Develop bioinformatics pipelines from existing tools
Independently identifying solutions and ability to investigate and learn new approaches necessary to adapt existing or new models
Work independently to identify and implement solutions
Recommend new methods, strategies, and improvements to incorporate into existing models
Establish and recommend workflows for omics data analysis
Help create publication-quality figures to aid in data presentation
OTHER
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field with four years of related experience.
OR
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences, or biological sciences with one year of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with bioinformatics pipeline automation using workflow management systems such as Nextflow or Snakemake. Proficiency with version control tools like Git for collaborative code development and reproducibility.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Experience in developing bioinformatics pipelines. Experience with version control management repositories (such as GIT). Experience with Python, Linux command-line, and HPC environment. Demonstrated ability to self-manage and manage interdisciplinary relationships effectively. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with standard statistical methods. Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting bioinformatics data analysis pipelines. Proficiency In R packages related to bioinformatics, statistical analyses, and visualization.
SKILLS
Strong problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Salary Range: $62,300/annually - $79,400/annually
Pay Band: B12
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
