Job Description
Summary
The purpose of the Baylor College of Medicine Advanced Practice Clinician Critical Care Fellowship is to provide a robust clinical and didactic learning experience to both Acute Care Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants beyond the traditional PA and NP primary care focus.The fellowship program is a 12-month critical care program.
Job Duties
- Performs and observes tasks related to field of study.
- Assists with special projects/programs related to field of study.
- Inspires the desire to assimilate the clinical skills necessary to provide the highest level of patient care for critical care patients.
- Develops competency in the care of critically ill patients in line with current evidence-based practices.
- Nurtures APPs in leadership qualities and aspirations to engage in leadership activities within the discipline on institutional, local, state, and national levels.
- Performs didactic opportunities, mentoring, professionalism training, training rotations, simulation training, elective options.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. NOTE: Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- No experience required.
- Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board. Specialty certification as required by department.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
OR
- Master’s degree in in Nursing.
- No experience required.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
